At the beginning of the Mayoral race I made the decision to remain publicly neutral in the campaign out of respect for my fellow councilmembers David Tolleson and Lori Henry because they both supported me during my campaign. Unfortunately, this same respect has not been reciprocated by the Henry campaign. Recently, a trusted friend and neighbor went to a Henry meet and greet where, to his utter surprise, a Henry supporter ridiculed me for remaining neutral. Mrs. Henry stood close by nodding in agreement. I can understand that Mrs. Henry is disappointed in my decision, but to condone this behavior by her supporters is simply unacceptable.
By contrast, I have watched David Tolleson govern over the years and admire his ability to work equally with those who support him on issues and those who do not. David was understanding of my decision to remain neutral and simply asked that I consider his candidacy once I was in the privacy of the voting booth.
Like many of you, I have watched with interest as this campaign season has unfolded. I admire each and every candidate for being willing to serve and I look forward to working with whomever the voters of Roswell decide to choose to be their next leaders. While I cannot predict who will win each race, I do know one thing; in the privacy of the voting booth David Tolleson will have my vote.
